According to the National Sleep Association over 18 million people are affected by sleep apnea. CMC's Sleep Disorders Center now offers A.W.A.K.E. Support Group for those who suffer with sleep apnea and their loved ones.
A.W.A.K.E., which stands for Alert Wellness and Keeping Energetic, is sponsored by the American Sleep Apnea Association. The support group is for those who suffer from sleep apnea and its purpose is to give them the tools to manage their own health successfully. The group works by: combating isolation, providing patients with information and a chance to digest it and presents opportunities to think out problems and ask questions. Each meeting includes a speaker and a support segment.
Meeting are held quarterly on the third Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the private dining rooms at Conway Medical Center.
The A.W.A.K.E. Support Group can help with your progress with your CPAP Therapy including:
- Assist you with problems you might be having using your CPAP
- Help in getting your CPAP/Bipap machine
- Make sure you are set up on CPAP/Bigpap therapy
- Answer any questions or concerns you may have with make changes or taking care of your device
